History of Parish
The history of Ajaokuta Parish which was devoid of any catholic worship, started early in 1979 when Mr. M. T. C. Mmuo, boldly approached the then Rev. Fr. Michael Ojobor Cssp to come over to help.
With the combined efforts of Egnr. M. O. Awotoye and Mr. Mike Egi, Rev. Fr. Mike Ojobor consented to the request.
His maiden and historic visit was accomplished with a Sunday evening Mass on 11th February 1979.
He was accompanied by late Pa Ambrose Otonoku, a Rev Sister and a Mass Server.
The venue was at M.C.T (Main Central Territory), beside the present site for worship for St. Martins’ Catholic Church premises, Geregu camp with the initial congregation of 12 members only.
Rev. Fr. Michael Ojobor maintained a Sunday evening Mass. Mr. Mmuo did organize service when the priest would not come, using the booklet for “Service without the Priest” which he collected from Most Rev. Dr. A. O. Makozi, the then bishop gave his blessing to it
The Parishes recently created out of St. Peter’s FFN (8th Dec. 2011) and St. Martins Geregu Camp (1st July, 2012). Presently it is one-station parish,
