ST. THOMAS’ CATHOLIC CHURCH – OGIDI-IJUMU

History of Parish

The Catholic worshipping community was established in Ogidi in the year 1920. The first Mass was celebrated by Rev. Fr. Berengario Cerminati CSSP.

In the same year, the Church came into being through the efforts of the few Catholics who were tired of going to Ekiti for Sunday Mass who then appealed to the [then] Holy Ghost Fathers in Ekiti to come over to their place for Mass. The priests obliged them and in that same year, a Mass Centre was established. It was Fr. Cerminati who was sent to start the Centre.
